Strategy & Tips
Warding Scroll is a Common relic that generates +2 Block for each retained card at end of turn, capped at 3 cards, for a maximum of 6 free Block per turn. On its own with naturally Retain-keyword cards, this provides modest passive defense. However, paired with Eternal Grip, which makes all cards retain, this becomes a powerful passive block engine: every turn you automatically gain up to 6 Block just for holding cards in hand.
This combination is one of the strongest defensive setups in the game and requires no energy investment. Frost Heart further amplifies this by carrying over 50% of unused block, letting the passive block snowball across turns. The relic is weaker without Eternal Grip or Retain-heavy cards, since few cards naturally have the Retain keyword.
In aggro decks that play every card each turn and retain nothing, Warding Scroll generates zero value. Priority: build-specific without Eternal Grip; always pick if you already have Eternal Grip, as the combo creates an unbreakable passive block engine.
