Mask of Forgotten is an Epic ON_ACQUIRE relic that immediately lets you remove 3 cards from your deck when picked up. This effect is permanent and does not repeat. Deck thinning is one of the most powerful strategies in any card game, as fewer cards means you draw your best cards more consistently.
Remove your weakest starter cards or situational cards that dilute your draws. This relic synergizes with every archetype, since a leaner deck always performs better. It is especially strong with Cracked Hourglass, as tutoring from a smaller deck means even your non-tutored draws are high quality.
In combo decks that need specific card pairs, removing filler dramatically increases the chance of drawing your combo naturally. The only downside is the opportunity cost of picking this over a combat-oriented Epic relic. There is no anti-synergy, since removing cards is universally beneficial.
After acquiring it, the relic slot is essentially empty for the rest of the run. Priority: always pick; deck thinning is among the strongest effects available at any rarity.
